CARA CAUGHT CAHOOTING: WHAT ELSE IS SHE HIDING?

10/17/2014

By Ewan McBay

Cara Graves, roommate of presidential candidate Alice Rackham, has been spotted in a secret homosexual relationship with Lily Oh, a junior in the music department. On Sunday October 12th, the pair were spotted getting into Graves’ car and then, once inside, they drew the visors down and shared a quick kiss before setting off.

Therefore we can state without a doubt that Cara Graves is gay and in a relationship with another woman, a woman who hitherto has never once admitted to this relationship - or of even being a lesbian. Cara, for that matter, has been exceedingly hidden about it all, but why? The very relationship itself is considered by many to be shameful, sinful, wrong. But above all: why keep it quiet?

Secret, sordid homosexual relationships are never good for a campaign — did Rackham push Graves to keep quiet? Is Graves cheating on Oh? Is there something amiss with Lily Oh? What else is there to this story? It is the Valeton community’s right to know not only about their candidates, but about the people in their lives and if Graves is hiding her sexual proclivities, it stands to reason she is hiding more.

PRICHARD OF PRICHARD HALL: CHEATER.

10/19/2014

By Ewan McBay

Andrew Prichard is the son of a legacy — his father attended Valeton, his grandfather, his great-great grandfather… He is, by all accounts, a privileged student with everything simply handed to him. But Andrew Prichard refuses to be known simply as “The Prichard On Campus” and has pushed himself as far as he can from that name and legacy.

Until it benefits him.

Last year, a test was stolen from a history course and the answers were shared amongst the students. Since that time, the concern has been largely swept under the rug and the student body has all but forgotten the breach of academic ethics. Why?

Not long after the test incident became quiet, Valeton received a large donation on behalf of the Prichard family; this in and of itself may be little cause for alarm: the Prichards donate regularly to Valeton. However, the amount was substantial and has led to the beginning of construction on a new library.

Watch Alice Rackham’s video series “Classic Alice” (available on YouTube at YouTube.com/ClassicAliceSeries) and it becomes all too obvious why, exactly, Valeton University has largely ignored the stolen test. Corrupt practices catering to the wealthy Prichard family are at the heart of this issue and lay at the feet of the administration, but what of Prichard? Should he be allowed to play Romeo to the hapless Alice’s Juliet while committing an offense that should have seen him expelled? Obviously there is some kind of romantic pairing between the two - or else why would he have bothered?

It is far and away time to right the wrongs of both Valeton and the Prichard family.

Alice turned into her first class of the day, just narrowly brushing against another student she didn’t recognize.

In her haste she mumbled a “sorry” and went on with her way. Andrew was already texting that their professor was already giving back papers.

The boy she brushed past looked on after her with his large, dark-rimmed glasses, before taking another cracking from his pocket and doing the same. (floydtheflamingo)

My New Obsession

So I started watching this new web series today and I spent at least three hours just laying in bed catching up on every single episode. I wanted to share the show with you all and write down some of my thoughts on it.

The plot is this: A student named Alice decides to improve her understanding of classic novels by living them out in her own life. So far, she’s worked through Crime and Punishment, The Pygmallion, The Butterfly (a short story, but still classic) and is in the middle of Macbeth.

I really like Alice as a character because she’s a lot like me. She’s an overachiever who starts this whole thing because she got a “failing” grade (a.k.a. B-) on an English paper. She’s ridiculously nerdy and you’ll see her bookshelf is filled with works by George RR Martin and Suzanne Collins. At the same time, though, she’s cool and likeable and the other characters respect her.

The social media campaign for the show is really cool too. All the links to their twitter, tumblr, facebook, etc. can be found on their youtube channel. Basically, they create accounts for their characters and tweet/post as those characters throughout the course of the story. They’ve created an entire fictional world that you can be a part of, and it’s really neat.

One of my previous roommates is actually helping with the campaign now, and it would really mean a lot if you could check out the show and let me know what you think!
